It’s not easy to hear “code” or “programming being discussed for the first time, especially in the case that it’s not something you are familiar with.
Programming is often looked at from an engineering/coding viewpoint.
The conversation that follows is not uncommon. Instead of discussing the process it is common for people to discuss different the languages they speak and how well they know them. Every person speaks a different language fluently, so there’s nothing wrong with that. It isn’t easy for people who are just beginning however, if they become too focused on the finer details.
What is the code?
Code is essentially a list of instructions to be given to computers. The compiler interprets these instructions, and then gives the computer instructions to follow in order to accomplish some task. The “something” can be anything from the addition of two numbers to show text on a monitor. Code can only be found as text files , which can be used by various programs.
The reason it’s called Code is because the language of programming (which contains the list of instructions) might be considered to be a secret code. It has to make sense to computers, and not human beings! This is the reason there are coding tutorials out there that may as well be written in a different language. These tutorials are simply text that’s human-readable but don’t really mean anything until they’re actually read or heard from the people who speak them.
It’s not a good idea to instantly think of an equation when someone says “code”. Instead be thinking about running commands or textfiles!
If you are familiar with some information about Code and have a clear idea of how you can work with the existing code, this is an excellent way to get started with it. If you’re looking to learn a new language, you could take advantage of the various tutorials available or Google. This will allow you to understand the workings of code and provide you with a feel for things before diving in more deeply!
Be aware that these programs are usually simplified (which makes sense since they’re “tutorials” in the end!) They will show you how programs look inside.

If you’re a beginner then everything is going to be a bit new to you!
Here’s what some code from a basic Python tutorial appears to be:
print “Hello World!”
This is the very first line of the famous “Hello World” program. It is a norm for novice programmers and will help you learn the fundamentals of programming. In simple terms, it instructs that computer to print out everything that follows the “:” character onscreen or wherever the text file is stored on your hard drive. While this isn’t the way all programming languages work but it is an effective way to help you comprehend some fundamental concepts.
The best way to learn to code is through practicing! You will improve your skills in programming the more you code. This post was created by people who are new to programming.
